STAND-UP comic Jon Santos’ “Trumperte Atbp.” will be Resort World Manila’s first major standup comedy show for 2019 as it opens on Valentine’s Eve (Wednesday, February 13, 2019) at the Newport Performing Arts Theater (NPAT).
An original satirical live act, Jon, the country’s most prolific political impersonator is ready to give rip-roaring laughs together with comedic collaborators Eric Nicolas and Marissa Sanchez.
Apart from the heads of State of the Philippines and America, who else will grace the show and give the audience the happy pill to
their “LBM” (Laughter is the Best Medicine)?
“Darating si Leila de Luna, ang mga Senatoriables (to the tune of “Unforgettable”), si Mochang, si Meldific, si BongGa Go Ka ‘Day and many more. Inuna ko sa billing si Trump kasi pangit naman kung gawin nating Dutrump o Durump. Pangit ang tunog.
“Maraming sasabihin si Digong DuterTHIRTY-Hari at MacDonald Trump. Two polarizing personalities. ‘Di ba we can laugh at these personalities and sort of make ganti in funny ways. Since Election time na naman, we will look into the curriculum vitae, resumé or resume kung anupaman ng mga tatakbong ito.”
Michael Williams will direct the script written by Jon, Enrico Santos and Joel Mercado. Also in celebration of Jon’s 30th year in the business.
There is more than to just laugh at the personalities that Jon will invite to the show. He will definitely surprise us with more!
“Mas abangan din nila what Marissa and I will do. Siya raw magpapakita ng flesh. Sabi ko bigyan niya ako ng dalawang kilo. Hehehe,” quipped Eric.
“Wala naman akong nakikitang mapipikon pa sa akin,” stated Marissa. “Kasi kami, sa comedy we exaggerate to make it really funny. At maiba pa rin dun mismo sa personalidad na ini-impersonate ko like sa singing.”
AND COME February 14, also at the NPAT, the singer and the songwriter Ogie Alcasid will serenade his audience via “Master of Love.” With no less than our National Artist for Music Maestro Ryan Cayabyab providing musical direction for Ogie, Mariel de Leon, Lara Maigue and Tanya Manalang as guest performers.
May maiiba ba sa previous V-Day concerts or showz Ogie has done?
“The more na lumang mga kanta, hindi lang sa akin, but the greatest songs of all time na gugustuhing marinig ng mga manonood especially that it’s Valentine’s Day, mas gusto nila. So, hugot kung anuman ang theme song o love song nila. Ulila ako kasi ang misis ko, may show naman with the Song Horse.
“Ang masarap lang when you do a Valentine’s Day show, naaalala mo ‘yung mga firsts. You are being brought back to those moments ng throwback. All about love.”
Can Ogie say that now, he is truly a master of and on love?
“Ano sa tingin mo? Eh, kung si Mr. C pa ang co-collaborator mo sa mga songs that we will do on that night, kahit na nami-miscue siya ‘pag napahagalpak na ng tawa, mas masaya kami. You will admire the three ladies na kasama ko plus the Ryan Cayabyab singers. Magiging unforgettable ang evening na ‘yun with the master of love.”
Hindi naman napupunta sa mga pagsasawaang kanta ang mga nagawa na at nakanta na ni Ogie and Maestro Ryan. These are songs that you would want to stay in your playlist all the time, of not forever!
But, said the singer-songwriter, “In my playlist now are my gym songs. For my workout. And the songs of my daughter Leila. Her single is “Someday Paradise.” Iba rin ang tunog niya. Proud dad lang. Minsan, like what Mr C. said, naninibago ako sa mga beats. Nakakasunod naman. Pero may iba rin silang tunog.”
In the concert, it’s not just Ogie’s or Maestro Ryan’s songs we’ll hear. But hits from our OPM icons.
Tickets for the two shows are now available at Ticket World and the RWM Box Office at Newport Manila’s GF.
