THIS CHRISTMAS Season, the moviegoing public makes it a point to put in their to-do list to choose the movies that they will enjoy with the whole family.
There are love stories. Comedy. And horror. Regal Films Entertainment has always serve us with their different kinds of horror with the thrillers it served.
Now, the platforms are different. Viva Films and Aliud Entertainment is taking horror on a notch higher.
Anne Curtis and Marco Gumabao has a mission to accomplish.
After the ship Aurora sunk near their island everybody knows that their hometown is doomed. But after Leana (Anne) made a deal with the families of the missing passengers, she and her 8-year old sister, choose to stay in the island and keep their hotel open in case any of the dead bodies will be washed ashore. However, as days go by, ghosts begin to bother and haunt their seemingly normal life in the island.
Direk Yam Laranas, the Pinoy Hollywood filmmaker is the brilliant mind behind the international movies “The Echo” and “The Road.”
He says, “One of the best productions I have ever worked with. Even if the elements were kinda rough, waves crashing and all, everyone was happy. Tuwang-tuwa ako kay Anne. The moment she went to Batanes, she already got the rhythm of everybody. Nature lover, eh. Lumusong agad sa tubig. We were amazed with the location. Pero this is no travelogue ha. Background siya sa story ng sunken ship. Where a tragedy in the remote island happened.
“Anne is makulit. An active person. She felt her closeness agad with the waters and longed to explore the island. Naglakad nga agad sa tubig. She was always having fun. And we are so thankful so much sa people of Batanes. Ang Aurora ang puso ng kwento.”
Anne says this is her gift to her fans and supporters.
“I so enjoyed doing the movie that I did not want to have a double for my underwater scenes. 30 seconds to 1 minute to shoot my scenes. Kaya alam ko the moviegoers will have a great time watching it this Christmas season. Can Leana protect her sister when the dead find their way home? Yan na ang mga exciting na scenes na makikita in the movie?”
Will this give her an acting award?
“I did my best. But you see, in a film festival, lahat naman ibinibigay ang kanilang all to be the best. What is important and foremost goal is to entertain the people in this time of year. A Christmas horror to boot!”
Get enthralled with the background of Batanes. But more than that, get entertained and your money’s worth as Aliud Entertainment bring you underwater and on the island to breathe a different kind of experience in “Aurora.”
HE ADMITS he can sing. But there never was a time that having an album was part of the grand scheme of his career as an actor.
Saw that long-time friend at the concert of his Mama Carmen Soriano and Asia’s Diva Pilita Corrales in “The Legends” at the Music Museum.
Lloyd Samartino guested with Ramon Christopher, tita Pilita’s son.
“Maganda ‘yung idea ni direk Jobert (Sucaldito) to show the bond of Moms to their kids. I thought nga it was going to be Jackielou (Blanco) eh. She had a prior commitment ‘ata. Masaya lang na pang-throwback, ‘di ba?”
And that started the throwback kwentos when he and Jackielou were an item. And more.
But Lloyd is in a happier place now with the woman who puts the sweetest smiles on his face-event planner and stage actress Adriana Agcaoli.
“We met a long time ago. During that time na after a long hiatus from my career, I wanted to come back sa showbiz. So, I did a play. And she was in the cast. Ang role ko, tatay niya. We became friends. Ang nakakatawa in most of my scenes, wala sa akin ang focus ng ilaw kapag nagsasalita na ako. ‘Yun pala ex niya ‘yung nagiilaw. Sinasabotahe ako. Haha. Hindi pa naman naging kami. After sometime pa. Recently lang kami nag-reconnect. And it seems masasagot na ang tanong mo one of thrse days.”
A beaming Adriana can only smile. And blushes at the comments that she and Mama Carmen has so many similaritirs and things in common.
Oh, Lloyd cleared an urban legend that has circulstrd for a very long time. No, the cabs or taxis at the Manila International Airport were not owned by him nor his deceased wife Jo Ramos.
“Minsan, sa paulit-ulit na tanong, oo lang ako ng oo. Bur really, it’s not ours. Sa tingin mo, my father-in-law (former President Fidel Ramos) will not acknowledge that or have a say kung sa amin ‘yun. Syempre matutuwa pa ‘yun. Hindi talaga.”
Lloyd and Jojo’s handsome son Sergio have no plans of penetrating the world of showbiz. But Lloyd cannot deny the fact that music is in his son’s blood.
“Kay Mamita at sa Mommy niya namana. Hahaha. Ayaw ng acting, eh!”
Lloyd will be part of a serye at the Kapuso lot soon!
This concert should have a part 2 where THE Jun Polistico and Lilet once again shared their brilliant and shining performances and the revelation in Mike Austria. With the musical direction of Jerry Matias. And the Daisy Romualdez as producer.
