After a long respite from the concert scene, the Divine Diva Zsa Zsa Padilla will make a comeback in lieu of her 35th anniversary in the industry via “The Best day of My Life.”
And sharing the stage with her–her daughters Karylle and Zia. With Robin Nievera and Yael Yuzon. Homer Flores is the musical director while Paolo Valenciano is the stage director.
“I was not able to have one last year kasi I had to be operated sa frozen shoulder ko. So, “ASAP” lang.
“And the “Larawan” bit na matagal na rin naman nagawa. I really missed it. And we know that time changes. Ang gusto ng mga tao nagiiba rin. You have to be abreast with the changing times.”
Singing with her daughters will be a first here at the Newport Theater of Performing Arts at the Resorts World Manila on May 11.
“But sa Australia, nagkasama-sama na rin kami. What a better date to celebrate na rin my birthday, Mother’s Day and my 35th year in the business.
“Alam ko naman na marami pa rin ang nakaka-miss sa music ko so in the show, may throwback pa rin with the hits I did and the collaboration with my girls na may kanya-kanya ring style and take in their genre.”
Zsa Zsa and her daughters are just like friends when they bond. What have they learned from each?
“I have always taught them respect. In every way. Especially with the people they encounter here. Lahat. And to be ever humble and stay grounded.
“Iba ang generation nila pero nagugulat sila na may mga alam akong bagong songs na hindi nila alam na nauuna akong makaalam.”
Zia looks up to her Ate Karylle.
“I have learned from them na to be myself lang. That only me can define who I am.”
Husband and wife Congressman Alfred and Mayor Cristina Gonzales Romualdez of Tacloban were ecstatic in last night’s launch of their daughter Sofia’s newest single “Thinkin’ Of You.”
It was as if a debut was happening at the ballroom of Manila Polo Club’s Lounge. Almost all of the friends of the couple from the media were present.
And because the couple were ecstatic, cash flowed in their pa-raffle after Sofia rendered a couple of numbers with her band and back-up singers who are homegrown talents of Tacloban and who were personally picked by her father.
Before Sofia turned 18, a couple of her parents’ media friends witnessed her talent in singing and playing the guitar when she was featured in their city’s fiesta. And most everyone was convinced that she has a place in the music industry because of her distinct voice.
Mama Cristina said that, “Maliit pa lang siya alam na namin that she loves to sing. Until nga nung lumaki na nag-aaral na rin na mag-play ng instruments.
“And very much in writing her own songs. Naging passion na. So, when the idea came na pinapayagan na namin siya to record her songs and ipina-sign up na rin namin with Viva, sabi nya, ‘Mom, I don’t wanna be star. I just wanna sing.”
Whether this girl who loves to munch donuts (her comfort food actually) will shine brightly as a singer is for fate to decide.
But for the now, those who heard her nakaka-in-love voice are already convinced that Sofia will definitely carve a niche in the music industry.
An old soul perhaps as one of her music influence is one of music icons, Ray Charles!
Shy on the outside but when she steps onstage to share her soul, Sofia is a bomb!
Her pieces are already in the music platforms available. Spotify. ITunes. YouTube. And more!
There is a very good reason to watch this Saturday’s episode of “MMK” (Maalaala Mo Kaya) at the Kapamilya lot.
Aside from this will be Ian Veneracion’s guesting after a long time, the story that will be featured will be about our National Artist Cesar Legaspi’s life and time.
The great artist is the father of singer-actress Celeste Legaspi.
The story will share Sir Cesar’s lovestory with his Betty. The struggle they went through to fight for their “kakilig” din na lovelife. And about his paintings.
There was a time when Celeste shared with us the loveletters of his Dad to her Mamang. Which she sang in her concert when it was put to good music.
The role of Celeste’s Mamang will be portrayed by Angel Aquino and Ria Atayde will be Celeste, directed by Jeffrey Jeturian.
Ian in real life is also a painter. Apart from that he is an actor who also sings. And he will have a concert in Cebu’s Waterfront Hotel this April 21 dubbed as “Ian in 3 Acts.” This is the kick-off of his concert tour here and abroad presented by Dream Wings Productions.
