Leaving their comfort zone in San Diego, California, USA was truly a test for couple Doc Rob Walcher, a chiropractor and Patricia Javier, a singer and an actress.
When they got married more than ten years ago, Patricia left her career in showbiz to lead a domesticated life with Rob where two children were born.
And came that point when Doc Rob felt that he has to make his wife go back to her homeland and do something that she misses-sing and act.
“Though am doing a mother roles and support with the projects coming my way, I know na inilalabas ko lang ang passion ko in acting. But more than that, sinusuportahan ko pa rin ang career ng asawa ko and at the same time, ‘yung plano namin na maka-give back sa mga taong in need of chiro at maging aware tayo sa benefits na ibinibigay nito sa ating katawan and whole being as well.”
For Doc Rob, “It was more of giving her din what she truly wants. She wants me to introduce my chiropractic practice to the Filipinos especially in her turf. And so far, we have been succeeding with the mission. From our rented place, we transferred into a clinic (at POS Building in Sct. Madriñan near the corner of Morato) because people are now flocking to get their spines aligned.”
They were on the same page and looking at the same direction as far as the life they want to lead here is concerned.
Said Patricia, “Back in the States, I made rin naman my time worthwhile. Nag-aral ako to become an Aesthetician under Dr. Tess Mauricio and worked din in her clinic. Now, I am helping muna Doc Rob with his clinic. At dito nagagawa ko ngayon ‘yung business side. Naisip namin na magpagawa na rin ng sarili niyang chiro pillows and stuff na connected with it. Naka-focus talaga kami sa health and wellness.”
Which, after several guestings in Shalala’s radio show in 8Trimedia of Kaye Dacer, a new radio show was born for her and Doc Rob at the helm every Sunday, from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
“Naka-dalawang Sundays na ang Health, Wellness and Life where we talk about how we should take care of our bodies especially our spine. I give beauty tips. And during our premiere, we had Ara Mina as our guest who talked about her beauty regimen, being a mother and being businessminded as well. The second Saturday, nung Father’s Day, Edu Manzano was supposed to sit pero na-stuck siya in Boracay.
“Nung mag-decide kami ni Doc to start a life here in the Philippines, we wanted to really share his knowledge and practice in chiropractic. Kaya, we would go to remote places para ma-treat ang mga tao and make them aware kung ano ang spine alignment. Then, nag-open na kami ng clinic. Para mas marami pa ang maging aware at matulungan. Ngayon, we were given this platform, para magka-boses pa kami at mas maipaliwanag kung ano ang ginagawa niya, namin so, we are really thankful sa mga taong nagtitiwala.”
Patricia said words are not enough to say her appreciation of her husband-whom she knows will take care of her and their kids for life.
“Hindi naman tayo bumabata. Pero ngayon na I am being managed na rin by Viva, there are projects in line. Nagsimula na ako sa bagong GMA soap, ‘yung “Haplos,” and will also have one sa Sari-Sari TV.”
