Of the many offers to act again on the bigscreen, former heartthrob and matinee idol Aga Muhlach makes his comeback via Star Cinema’s family treat, “Seven Sundays” helmed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.
“Ngayon lang kasi parang may tumama na role for me. ‘Yung hindi lovestory kaya hindi ko kailangang ma-pressure o mag-effort na magpapayat.
“Although after doing this, tuloy na ang effort ko to really shed more pounds. Twenty five pounds na ‘yung nawala. But for my role as the eldest Kuya in the movie, bumagay naman ang karakter ko na may asawa (Donita Rose) at mga anak so, kahit may puti na sa buhok, malaki ang tiyan, lumabas ‘yung kinailangan ni Direk Cathy sa papel ko.”
Dingdong Dantes works with Aga, direk Cathy, Ronaldo Valdez, Enrique Gil and Cristine Reyes.
“Growing up, isa na si Aga sa itinuring kong idol ko pagdating sa acting. His body of work speaks so much sa talento niya bilang isang aktor. And bow na nagkasama kami, mas nakilala ko ang persona at pagkatao niya. Kaya nagpapasalamat ako sa pagkakataon na nakilala ko pa siya.”
Enrique Gil was on the verge of tears when he shared his dramatic scenes in the movie where he was required to cry and show his emotions.
“Hindi ako iyakin, eh. When my Dad died, hindi ako umiyak. That was how many years ago. Weird ‘yung feeling na hindi ko mahanap kung saan ako huhugot. But Direk Cathy made me do it. She radiates lang sa amin what needs to be done.”
Cristine Reyes has matured in so many ways. From Direk Cathy’s anecdotes, she shared that there was a time when she said to herself that she will not work with the ‘mataray na aktres.’ And she was proven wrong as Cristine showed how professional she was with her character and working habits.
And if she will be put in that place where she will be given only her last seven Sundays on earth, she shared, “Hindi pa ako dumaan dun sa posisyon na nagkaroon na ng death in the family or sa mga close sa akin. Kung ako ‘yung role ni Tito Ronaldo, definitely, I will spend it with my family.”
Tito Ronaldo couldn’t finish his sentences without almost breaking.
“Hirap na hirap ako ritong kontrolin ang emosyon ko. Kasi mababa ang luha ko. Iyakin daw ako. Makaka-relate naman kasi ang marami sa istorya we are sharing. It will affect everyone.”
Direk Cathy announced that in two years, she will be retiring. She will live in New Zealand with her family.
“Pero hindi pa ako nagpapaalam sa Star Cinema. Who knows? Hindi naman ako nagsasalita ng tapos. Baka three months lang, ma-miss ko na agad ang paggawa ng pelikula. Pero in the meantime, ‘yun ang decision namin. Ang Ate ko ang nag-suggest that we live there. Nagbakasyon kami doon and nagustuhan namin ng mga bata.”
Her take on her “anak” and close friend John Lloyd Cruz.
“I have not talked to him. Nag-text lang ako. Hindi naman kasi siya ‘yung tipong magpaparamdam kapag may problema. Mas nagpaparamdam ‘yun ‘pag masaya siya. Am sure, he’s okay. Normal na tao si Lloydie. Ako man nadapa rin, bumangon. It’s not for me to judge. Kung ano ang dahilan bakit nagkaganoon, he’ll come around. Lloydie, mahal kita! Only he can answer your questions.”
Of course, her stars don’t want to believe what direk said about her retirement.
Aga’s prodding Dingdong to be with him in a serye or sitcom and another project with direk Cathy.
Who knows? There are more Sundays to boot in their calendars!
